Enhanced Resolution

The standard Fluorotron models are designed for maximum flexibility with the ability to perform the most common ocular fluorophotometry protocols. There are, however, applications that require performance parameters that cannot be addressed by the standard Fluorotron. One of those parameters is enhanced resolution.

We have recently produced two Fluorotrons with enhanced resolution. One was designed to clearly differentiate riboflavin in the anterior chamber even in the presence of a very high concentration in the cornea (Iselin, 2019).

The other is designed to differentiate concentrations of riboflavin in different layers of the cornea as well as to measure the concentration gradient across the stroma. Early performance results from this version will be presented at ARVO 2021.

Both of these versions were possible, because the area of interest is anterior to the pupil, and the fluorophore concentration is very high.
